The Cosmic Conversation: An Alien Couple’s Earthly Observations

Zylox: “Look at them, Zynta! They’re doing it again.”

Zynta: “Oh, Zylox, you mean the humans? What is it this time? Are they still convinced they can burn fossil fuels and come out unscathed?”

Zylox and Zynta, a curious alien couple from the distant planet of Glorvok-7, hovered in their interstellar cruiser, orbiting Earth. Their home, a technologically advanced paradise, was light-years away, but they had a particular fascination with Earth—a planet teeming with life yet so determined to extinguish it.

Zylox: “Yes, my love. Just last year, they emitted over 36.8 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide into their atmosphere. They’re heating up the planet faster than ever before. It’s like they’re cooking themselves alive.”

Zynta let out a melodic laugh, her eyes glowing with amusement.

Zynta: “It’s remarkable how they ignore their own scientists. The Arctic sea ice is melting at a rate of 13% per decade, and yet, they’re still debating whether climate change is real. Do they not see the forests burning? The wildfires destroyed 10.3 million hectares of land in Australia alone in 2019, and yet they continue to expand their cities and industries.”

Zylox: “Indeed. And their oceans? What a tragedy. They’ve dumped over 150 million metric tons of plastic into the seas. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch alone is twice the size of Texas now! It’s almost like they’re trying to turn their oceans into a wasteland.”

Zynta shook her head, a smirk forming on her lips.

Zynta: “And yet, they continue with their drilling and fracking, ripping apart their planet’s crust to extract the very lifeblood that poisons their air. The methane leaks from oil and gas operations could warm the Earth 84 times more than carbon dioxide over the next 20 years. They’re hastening their demise and don’t even realize it!”

Zylox: “Ah, but there’s more. The deforestation—oh, Zynta, it’s almost artistic in its destruction. They’ve lost 178 million hectares of forest since 1990, and for what? Cattle ranches and palm oil plantations? Their lungs, the very breath of their planet, are being choked out for hamburgers and processed foods.”

Zynta: “And they dare call themselves intelligent. Their population is nearing 8 billion, and with every new mouth, they strain their resources further. Freshwater, already a limited resource, is dwindling. Nearly 2 billion people suffer from water scarcity for at least one month each year, yet they still waste it on frivolous luxuries.”

Zylox sighed, though there was a twinkle of mischief in his eye.

Zylox: “They’re an amusing species, aren’t they? Their corporations pour toxic chemicals into rivers, and their agricultural practices deplete the soil. Over 33% of their arable land has been lost to erosion and pollution in the last 40 years. And still, they march on, blinded by short-term gains and petty squabbles.”

Zynta leaned closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

Zynta: “And the funniest part? They know what’s happening. Their scientists have been warning them for decades, but they ignore the data, dismiss the evidence. They’re more concerned with their gadgets, their entertainment, than the very survival of their species.”

Zylox: “Ah, yes. The irony of it all. They’ve created the technology to communicate across the globe, yet they fail to use it for meaningful change. They’re addicted to their own destruction, trapped in a cycle of consumerism and waste.”

The two aliens exchanged a knowing look, their laughter fading into a contemplative silence.

Zynta: “So, what do you think, Zylox? How long before they finish the job? Their biodiversity is already plummeting—over 1 million species at risk of extinction. Their coral reefs, the rainforests of the sea, could be gone by 2050 if current trends continue. Do you think they’ll last that long?”

Zylox: “I doubt it. Their ecosystems are collapsing, and with them, their food chains. They’re on a fast track to making their planet uninhabitable for themselves. Give it a century, maybe two. And then, Zynta, we’ll have a new planet to call home.”

Zynta smiled, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Zynta: “I can’t wait. Once they’re done with their self-destruction, we’ll step in, clean up the mess, and restore balance. Earth will thrive again, but under our care, of course. We’ll show them what true intelligence looks like.”

Zylox: “Indeed, my dear. It’s just a matter of time. Until then, let’s sit back and enjoy the show. The human race is the greatest comedy in the universe.”

And so, with a final chuckle, the alien couple drifted away, leaving Earth to its chaotic dance of destruction, knowing that one day, the planet would be theirs—a lush, vibrant world reborn from the ashes of human folly.

As the human race hurtles towards an uncertain future, perhaps it’s time to heed the warnings, change our ways, and ensure that Earth remains our home—before it’s too late.
